Last week the Wood River Bike Coalition attended the IMBA World Summit in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Summit drew over 400 bike enthusiasts from 40 states and a dozen countries.
In addition to some fabulous riding, an enduro, a jump jam at the bike park, night rides, and showing from the Bike Snob, the days were packed with speakers. The sessions ran the gamut from bike tourism and marketing to trail care crew and trail development.
An entire day was devoted to chapters during which we discussed marketing and activation, strategic planning, financial stability, and chapter congress. Running concurrently were sessions on purpose built trail development, risk management, chapter governance, and volunteer management. Public lands agencies held a great panel and of course there were also panels on hot topics such as fat bikes and e bikes.
Thanks IMBA for orchestrating such a great summit and an awesome networking opportunity. We certainly left with lots of great ideas, new connections, and are eager to see the chapter program continue to evolve.
