Rebecca Rusch, three-time reigning 24-Hour Solo Mountain Biking World Champion, will host a five-stop Mountain Town Movie Tour of Race Across The Sky, the new documentary about one of the most intense endurance mountain bike races of all time, the 2009 Leadville Trail 100.
This inspirational film has shown in larger cities across the country, but has not yet been seen in the core cycling communities of the Rocky Mountain West. Rebecca is excited to bring this film to the Wood River Valley to share the experience with her friends. “And to top it off” says Rusch, “having the event as a fundraiser for the WRBC is just that much more special.”
The Wood River Bike Coalition (WRBC) advocates and promotes bicycle and pedestrian safety, education, and access while encouraging policy makers, developers, residents, and visitors to further incorporate and utilize human power for transportation and recreation throughout Idaho’s Wood River Valley. Through partnerships, a membership base and grassroots advocacy, the WRBC works to create a more bicycle-friendly Wood River Valley. Improving access for cyclists of all ages and ability levels is possible through cooperation, communication and activism on local, state, regional and national levels. Working to unite developers, land managers, county and city officials, non-profit organizations, businesses and local cyclists and pedestrians, the Bike Coalition envisions a Wood River Valley where residents and visitors do not need automobiles for transportation and can safely ride on any street, where children can walk and ride safely to school and other destinations, and where bicyclists and pedestrians can easily and safely access transit, local trails and pathways.
The Wood River Bicycle Coalition will kick off it’s spring membership drive on February 25th with the showing of Race Across the Sky. Memberships will be available at the movie and also at the pre-party at the Elephant’s Perch. Rebecca and the WRBC will be hosting a raffle with tons of gear from various sponsors. ALL proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle will benefit the Wood River Bicycle Coalition. Please come to support this event and support cycling in our valley!
